This letter is to express my gratitude for the outstanding and highly effective program in place at The Recovery Ranch in Santa Ynez. My son Matthew entered the program in September of 2015 after we exhausted all other resources in a desperate attempt to save his life from a life destroying drug addiction. As his drug use began in high school, we tried counseling, inpatient rehabs, outpatient programs, to throwing him out on the streets which was gut wrenching to say the least. After several arrests, jail time, and his desperation for drug money that led to a felony arrest, I was able to convince the court finally to order him to rehab or face six months in jail which I found out only encourages more of the same behavior.
When I dropped Matthew off at the Ranch, I drove home feeling so hopeful for the first time that this may be the place to turn his life around. It was not easy for him. I know he struggled especially when confronted with being "fake" in his efforts to prove his determination. Nineteen months later, my son not only graduated the program but also just recently graduated the higher "Wooden" level and has now committed to working as House Manager, specifically with the youth program . His transformation from a lost and very young boy to a selfless, motivated, and highly disciplined young man is so much more than we could have every hoped and prayed for. Recovery Ranch saved our son's life and we will be forever grateful.
