The Recovery Ranch changed my life. When I first came to the Ranch a little over 19 months ago, I had absolutely no desire to be here and no intention of staying sober. In all honesty the only reason I was somewhat willing to come here was because I wanted to move to California. That, and my mom had told me to just try it out for 30 days. I'm very grateful now that I made the decision to stay and for my mom for sending me here. Believe me, you will learn a lot! To start off, I was taught how to cook, and over time I got the opportunity to lead the kitchen. I have gotten the chance to work for all of the Ranch Businesses (There are 6 in total!) Each one of them taught me different skills that I can use in the future. There is more to it than just working or cooking though; I was also taught to be responsible and take care of myself. Besides being an alcoholic, I also have type 1 diabetes, and before coming here I was a completely inept in trying to manage it. The managers here have helped me to set up my own insurance, find a general physician that I see regularly, and with the help of our personal trainer, Gokhan, I am now in great physical shape! I love this place and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of coming here or anyone looking to find a home for a struggling loved one.
